Skredkonferansen is one of the largest and most significant Nordic conferences on avalanche safety and outdoor activities. This year, we invite professionals, researchers, recreationists, and industry affiliates to contribute to an important exchange of ideas and experiences.

The conference serves as an interdisciplinary meeting ground for discussions and development across fields. Join us!

Conference Theme: Change

Change is a driving force that shapes our practices, challenges assumptions, and drives innovation. We invite contributions that explore various aspects of change, including but not limited to:

  • Behavioral Adaptations: How both amateurs and professionals adjust their practices in response to shifting environmental and social conditions.

  • Technological Advancements: Innovations in the development and dissemination of avalanche warnings and safety protocols.

  • Infrastructure and Policy: The evolving responsibilities in managing evacuation procedures, traffic control, and public safety in changing terrains.

  • Risk and Rescue: The impact of changing perceptions of risk and the evolution of rescue practices in outdoor activities.

  • Education and Awareness: New methods and strategies for educating the public and professionals about safety and responsibility in dynamic environments.

  • Commercialization and Industrialization: The implications of increased accessibility and commercialization of outdoor activities in avalanche-prone areas.

  • “Friluftsliv”: The role of traditional outdoor life practices in Norway and how they are surviving and adapting to ongoing changes and trends.

Submission Guidelines

We offer multiple presentation formats:

  • Paper presentations

  • Poster sessions

  • Roundtables & Symposia

All interested parties—amateurs, professionals, and stakeholders—are encouraged to contribute.

Submission Requirements:

Your submission must include:

  • Author(s) name & title

  • Affiliation

  • Email & mailing address

  • Phone number

  • Title & abstract (max. 700 words, approx. one A4 page)

Note: Biographical information and abstracts will be published in the conference program unless requested otherwise.

  • Submission deadline: 20th May 2025

  • Notification of acceptance: 15th June 2025

Presentations and abstracts can be in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.

  • Tickets for sale from May

  • Speakers: Please note that tickets are not included for speakers.

Conference Fees (TBA)

  • Standard fee: NOK TBA

  • Student fee: NOK TBA

The conference fee includes:

  • Full access to the entire program

  • Lunch on Friday and Saturday

  • Coffee, tea, fruit, nuts, and free access to the soft-serve ice cream machine

Pre-Conference Workshop – Thursday, October 30th

Temaet for årets konferanse er endring. Vi vil utforske det stadige skiftende landskapet innen skredsikkerhet, friluftsliv og aktivitet i fjellet. Endringer påvirker vår oppførsel, antakelser og rammebetingelser. Samtidig er også endringer drivkrefter for utvikling og innovasjon av utstyr og verktøy. 

Vi inviterer alle til å sende inn bidrag som utforsker temaet endring, inkludert, men ikke begrenset til:

  • Atferdsendringer: Hvordan både amatører og profesjonelle tilpasser sine praksiser i møte med endring i klima, kultur og regelverk.

  • Teknologiske fremskritt: Innovasjoner innen utvikling og spredning av skredvarsler, sikringstiltak, sikkerhetsprotokoller og informasjonstiltak.

  • Infrastruktur: De endrede ansvarsområdene i håndtering av evakueringsprosedyrer, trafikkontroll og sikkerhet for offentlig infrastruktur.

  • Risiko og redning: Hvordan endrede oppfatninger av risiko påvirker og utvikler redningspraksiser i friluftsaktiviteter og akuttbistand under større naturfarehendelser.

  • Utdanning og bevissthet: Nye metoder og strategier for å utdanne nybegynnere og fagfolk om sikkerhet og ansvar for tryggest mulig ferdsel i fjellet.

  • Kommersialisering: Konsekvensene av økt tilgjengelighet og kommersialisering og økning av turisme knyttet til friluftsaktiviteter i skredutsatte områder.

  • Friluftsliv: Rollen til tradisjonelle friluftslivspraksiser i Norge og hvordan de tilpasser seg pågående endringer og trender.

Vi oppfordrer til bidrag fra ulike felt som kan øke vår forståelse av endring – også utover punktene nevnt over. Denne konferansen er en mulighet til å dele innsikt, fremme samarbeid og inspirere til handling – sammen – i møte med alt vi står ovenfor.
