Melissa will present a short case study of a serious avalanche incident that happened this year on the Freeride World Tour. She will discuss decision making in extremely high pressure environments and invite the audience to an open discussion on responsibility and the future of safety in high level free ride events.

Melissa is a professional freeride athlete and scientist, after winning the Norwegian Cup in 2017 she has gone on to compete in the Freeride World Tour qualifiers and challengers and is currently ranked number 4. She has experience in backcountry guiding and film making, as well as Canadian avalanche certifications. In the backcountry she has explored mountains on every continent.
